Meet Chabota Nchimunya #544

This is Chabota.  She is 15 years old and in the 9th grade. She recently wrote a letter to her potential sponsor. Part of her letter says:

"Let me tell you a bit about our village.  There are many people surrounding us, but I don't know the number of them... many people are farmers because our land is fertile for growing.  People grow maize and cotton.  Our house is small but it has one bedroom and one sitting room.  In our sitting room there are no tables or chairs... We have a cat called Boss.  In our village these are animals- these are cows, pigs, goats, donkeys and dogs."


Chabota wants to be a nurse, and her favorite pastime is studying.  She will need a sponsor in order to go past the 9th grade. Her parents are supporting 9 children, and they will not be able to afford to send her to school much longer. The girls are always the first ones to be pulled out of school. This is Ngandu (pronounced "Nandu").  She is 14 years old and in the 8th grade.  She recently wrote a letter to her potential sponsor.  Part of her letter says:

"I am a grade 8 girl in Munenga Basic School.  I am taking English, Mathematics, Science, Civics, History, Geography, Tonga, Religious Education, and Home Economics. 

I am 14 years old and I have 2 brothers and 6 sisters.  I am number 3 in my family... I am walking 7 kilometers to and from school everyday."

I asked the lady in the picture what her name was. She told me that she was Purity the mother to the children in the video. I asked her the names of the children and she told me that the child next to her wearing a white blouse was Docus Nchimunya while the girl in the middle is Vanessa Nchimunya.She told me that the child at the far end wearing pink T-shirt is Latricia Minali. Asked as to whether the children were in school, the lady told me that the children were in school at Simwaba. She told me that the children were suffering from Malaria. The lady says she would appreciate having her children helped with their education in terms of purchasing book, pencils, shoes, uniforms etc. The mother to the children also told me that she needed some food for the children since it was difficult for her to support the children alone.

These are some of the new children in the program. I have not added any to the side link yet, but at least you can see some of them here. aren't they sweet!!!

Also, I have not sent the 2nd care package yet. I received some jackets yesterday, and so I will be posting those later today. You will be able to purchase windbreakers with hoodies for the young children age 7 and under. Then, for the children 8 and up, I have some fleece jackaets without hoodies for them. Zambia is in their cold season now, so these jacket are quite timely. Stay tuned for that post.
