Meet Humphrey Himusonde

Translation from Chim:
I asked the lady her name and she told me that she was Christina Mwiinga and the child in video is her son. She told me that they came from Manyana when they heard that CHILDHOPE-ZAMBIA was in the community to support the children. Her son in the video is Humphrey Himusonde. He lost his hand in a freak accident. Narrating the ordeal, the mother said it was a Friday while Humphrey preparing for school. She had left a pot of water on the fire in order to prepare breakfast for the children and the people that were going to church. When she came back from getting some sweet potatoes, she found her son lying down with the hands raised up. At first she didn't know what could be happening. Then she realized that Humphrey's hands were charred from the fire. Apparently, he had unknowingly fell into the fire when he had an epileptic seizure. He was then taken to Mazabuka hospital where they said they could not do anything for the child apart from amputating one of his hands. That`s how the boy lost his hand. The other hand also go burnt, so it does not work as well as it used to.
I asked the child what his name was and he told me that he was Humphrey Himusonde doing grade 3 at Manyana School. He said he would appreciate to be assisted with his education through the purchase of shoes, uniforms and books.
