Mwiinga Family Business

Mutinta Mwiinga #1197, age 3 is in need of a sponsor.

Here is the Mwiinga family that I spoke of in the last post.  We now know that Mrs. Mwiinga's daughter Mutinta attends Dindi CHILDHOPE supported ECCDE center.  Now, we know that this village that they live in- that we could not find any other sponsored children in- is close to Dindi.  There are plenty of families and women in our program in Dindi.  If anyone sponsors a child in Dindi and would like to contribute to starting up a sewing cooperative for the women, let me know.  We would need the names of the families (maybe 5 to 6 women).  Then, the Zambia team could speak with those women and determine if they are good candidates for the business (i.e. already know how to sew).

If several women are involved, we could help several families.  Plus, the start up cost would be less when divided among 5 or 6 sponsors- whose sponsored children/women are participating.   Mrs. Mwiinga would still be the one in charge of the supplies, but the earnings would be split among the group according to the work.  It would be great if we could purchase the uniforms from them!

Such a deserving family!!  You can see that through all of Mrs. Mwiinga's obstacles, she remains happy hearted.  I am not sure I would be talking and laughing with a smile in her situation.  She speaks of Jordan not having food, but I know she would go without food to provide for him... So, if he has no food, there is just no telling how empty her stomach is!!  And, all she wants is a way to help herself!  Here in the states, she would get a monthly check for her disability- not in Zambia!  Though she is clearly disabled, if her family needs food- she is the one that must figure out how to provide that- disability or no disability!

A Seamstress in Need of a Start

Here is Jordan' mother.  She says: "The girl in black dress is Jordan’s sister by the name of Mutinta Mwiinga who is 3 years old. While the other boy is Nchimunya Moonga who is the child to the sister in law. She is appealing for help. She says ‘look at the house in which I sleep’. She says Jordan has no food and where he sleeps there is nothing but the dirt floor. The mother says Jordan is at Simwaba basic school while the sister to Jordan is at Dindi ECCDE center."
This sweet lady mentions not having food to feed her children at the beginning of the video.  If you look at Jordan's face, you will see him trying to hold back tears.  The interesting thing is that she is NOT requesting a hand out.  What she would like is a chance to be able to help her family with her own hands.  She is disabled, but she can sew.  Sewing would provide her family with the income to purchase food and other necessities.
If you would like to help Mrs. Mwiinga provide for her family, please contact me at macandmic@gmail.com

She told me that Sheri had stomach complications while Trizzah had a cough. Asked what help the children required in school. Happy Bithday August 5th!

Mwiinga Mwiinga #405 above turns 10 years old today. He is in the 4th grade in Naleza.
I know many of you have been missing the nearly daily posts of birthday children. The reason for the lack of them is that Sara was setting those up. She would set up 2 weeks of birthday posts in advance. However, her life right now just got busier than it was before, so she hasn't posted. I am sure she will be back at in shortly. In the meantime, since one of you asked specifically for today's birthday child to be posted- Here he is!!! Also, Roger's newly sponsored Eunice is celebrating a birthday today!

June Distribution 2010-Part 5

Little Dorice, above, is wearing the uniform with the white collar. It is these type uniforms that are currently out of stock. Because the uniforms are out of stock, they will not be available until some time Tuesday. Once the staff is able to pick them up, they will have distribution on Wednesday.

By the way, we have an additional 5 children whose sponsorship is pending, which means that the sponsor will be sending money for them shortly. Since I know that these sponsors are completely reliable and will be sending in the sponsorship fees within the next few days, I have chosen my 8th child-Dorice!! I do not have her bio information yet, but she is in the 1st grade.

We now have a total of 65 children sponsored!! Ya'll rock!!! Thanks for helping these needy children! We are going to change their world!

Also, I have not sent the 2nd care package yet. I received some jackets yesterday, and so I will be posting those later today. You will be able to purchase windbreakers with hoodies for the young children age 7 and under. Then, for the children 8 and up, I have some fleece jackaets without hoodies for them. Zambia is in their cold season now, so these jacket are quite timely. Stay tuned for that post.
