Twice Blessed

We have several sets of twins in our sponsorship program.  Here are 4 of the sets =)  Hamoonga twins above and Hakalima twins below.  The Hakalima twins are unsponsored.

Nyanwa twins above and Ngoma twins below

There is a new book that just came out.  I have not read it yet, but I will have to pick it up.  It's called "Twins in African and Diaspora Cultures: Double Trouble, Twice Blessed".  It is a look into how twins are regarded in several African communities.  If you read the book before me, let me know what you think...

Translation by Chim:
The lady in the video is saying she is Bester Nyanwa and the children she is with are hers. I asked her what the name of the child behind her was and she told me that the girl behind her was Lavender Nyanwa doing grade 8 at Simwaba basic school. I then asked her the name of the girl in the brown dress and she told me that the girl was Rebbeca Nyanwa doing grade 6 at Simwaba basic school.
I then asked her the name of the child in a green dress and she told me that she was Parity Nyanwa doing grade 1 at Simwaba basic school. The lady told me that the boy in white T-shirt and navy blue trousers was Eugene Nyanwa attending ECCDE at CHILDHOPE Simwaba supported center. I then asked the name of the smallest girl and I was told that she was Philis Malambo Nyanwa who also attended ECCDE at CHILDHOPE supported center in Simwaba then asked the lady what help the children needed in school and she told me that the children needed educational support in the purchase of uniform, book, school fees etc. I then asked the children what help they required and they told me that they needed help paying for their school, purchasing uniforms and books because their parents could not afford it.

Enerst Nyanwa family~ Follow Up Part 1

This family was videotaped a few months ago. Since the children are still in need of sponsors, they took another clip of part of the family. Three of the  4 children previously videotaped and photographed are still in need of sponsors. If you would like to see the video from a few months ago, you can find it here: http://childhopezambia.blogspot.com/2010/07/ernest-nyanwa-family.html

I will post the photographs and profiles of the children in the next post.  Here is the translation for this video:

Translation by Chim:
I asked the lady in the picture who the children in the video were. She told me that the children in the video were hers. Asked the names of the children in the video and she told me that the eldest boy was Evans Nyanwa while the small girl`s name was Prudence Nyanwa. The mother told me that the Evans was doing grade 7 at Simwaba basic school while Prudence would start going to ECCDE Simwaba center when schools open. Asked what support children would require in school. The mother told me that the children need books, shoes, uniform and help paying for fees. She said the children were suffering from stomach pains, Asthima and coughing.

Joseph Nyanwa Family Part 2

Maybin Ngandu #1044 above is 9 years old and in the 2nd grade. He would like to be a teacher when he grows up. Owen Ngandu #1045 below will turn 12 in September. He is in the 6th grade and would like to be a professional driver when he grows up.

Clever Manyepa #1046 above just turned 12 years old. He is, also, in the 6th grade and dreams of being a doctor when he finishes school. Gift Mulomba #1047 below is 5 years old and in preschool. His favorite subject is drawing, and he is learning to speak English already.
Adrian Habanji #1048 below is 4 years old and also in preschool. He loves to draw and hopes to be a teacher when he grows up.
This children appear to have their grandmother's sweet and happy personality. Their video says a lot about their character. Though they are living through extreme poverty, they are happier than most middle class folks!! What a great example they are showing to the world! I hope we can be a big blessing to this family. If you would like to sponsor one of these children, send an e-mail to macandmic@gmail.com Thank you for all you do!!

Meet Charity Mwiinga #1039

Chim asked the girl her name and the grade she was doing, she told him she was Charity Mwiinga doing grade 6 at Simwaba basic school. In the video, she told him that she was washing plates. She told me that she gets home from school at 4pm .Asked as to whether she needed people to help her with her education, she told Chim that she prays she will get a sponsor. She says that she works very hard. When she gets home from school; she fetches water and does the cooking for her family. She is appealing for sponsorship in order to purchase uniforms, books and help in paying school fees. If you would like to sponsor Charity for only $9 a month, simply click "sponsor primary child in the upper right hand corner of the blog. Let's give this girl a break! She could sure use it!!
