Bota Mweene family

The lady in the video told me that she was Mrs.Mweene, the mother to the children in the video. Asked if the children are in school. She told me that the children are in school at Manyana. One attends ECCDE while the other one is in grade 1.Asked to show me which child was who. The lady told me that the boy first from the left wearing gum boots was Patrick Mweene while the girl in the middle was Monica Mweene. The grades are as sent in the bio. She is appealing for school fees, uniforms, blankets shoes etc. Asked about the health of the children. The lady told me that Monica is always sick with high temperature. When she was taken to the clinic there was no medicine for the little girl. She then told me that Patrick was suffering from Asthma.

These totally adorable siblings didn't even get their video posted before they were sponsored!!  You probably recognize them.  They were both in the Manyana feeding pictures.  Monica and Patrick will now both be attending distributions, and they will share a sponsor.  I know they are going to enjoy the program.  Especially since their sponsor is already trying to get them into the distributions starting at next distribution by purchasing some extras.  I can't wait to see their next pictures!!

I asked the lady in the video what her name was. She told me that she was Doris Chiinda. Asked her the relationship she had with the children. She told me that the child wearing yellow mixed with green suit was hers whose name was Royce Mwalilanda while the boy by the name of Coxson Chiinda first from the left wearing blue T-shirt was also hers.
She told me that the tallest boy wearing black was Philip Milondwe the son to her sister while the boy in the striped T-shirt was Emmanuel Mweene her cousin. Asked if the children were in school. She told me that all the children in the video were in school.
Over children`s health, the lady said Emmanuel had chest complications that required attention. She is appealing for people that could help these children in the purchase of books, uniform, shoes, paying school fees etc.

Meet Amocky Mweene #81

Today I am featuring this young man because he is one of the 9th graders in need of a sponsor. Why should you help? This young man is only 18 years old, but he has big dreams. He would like to be a doctor. When asked why he wanted to be a doctor, he said, "To improve human lives in the society."

Realistically, Amocky has no chance of becoming a doctor. His father passed away and then, his mother- Taken from this world with their children looking on. Their deaths left Amocky and his 4 siblings complete orphans. It is hard enough for a student in his village with both parents to go on to university, but without parents, it is impossible. The relatives who have taken the 5 children in to their home have added 5 mouths to feed to their household. Their focus is on survival.

These are the Mweene family children. You may notice that the 3 girls started school very late. This happens a lot when families can not afford to send all of their children/grandchildren to school. It is usually the girls that will be chosen to stay at home. The average child in Zambia starts first grade at the age of 7, but Annita did not get to start school until she was 9 years old. If they do not get support, it is highly likely that when the family does not have enough money to send all of the children to school, the girls will be pulled out.

Mweene Family Part 1

This is the hut where Luyando Hakasenke sleeps. The hut is not fit for human habitation. As you can see the hut has no door and the roof is almost falling in. The child sponsorship employee and Mr. Hambuli one of the CHILDHOPE chairpersons in the community interviewed the girl. The girl was asked who she lives with, the grade she was doing and what support she needed. The girl said she stays with her grandparents and is in grade 3 at Simwaba basic school. She says she needs education support in terms of books, uniforms, shoes and help school fees because her granparents are supporting so many grandchildren. She also says she needs blankets and a school uniform.
