2011 Second Distribution Post #24: Thank You from a Grandmother
Translation by Chim:
The lady is saying she is very thankful for CHILDHOPE-ZAMBIA. The organization has helped a lot of children including the orphans. Through CHILDHOPE children are able to go to school. As old women, they do not have the physical strength and resources to help the children like they would like to. Due to CHILDHOPE, the lady says she is able to feed her grandchildren because CHILDHOPE brings mealie-meal also. She went on to say because of CHILDHOPE; the children are able to cover themselves with blankets unlike the previous situation where children did not have anything to cover with during the chilly night time. She said through CHILDHOPE the children’s fees are paid. She thanked us for working with CHILDHOPE and wished us more of God’s blessings. She went on to say that, the people of Mazabuka do not have jealousy such that whatever they are given it reaches the community and they are grateful. She told me that God should continue guiding CHILDHOPE As old women they do not have the resources to help these children. She urged CHILDHOPE to continue with the spirit.
*So in case you thought that the small donation of a bag of mealie meal didn't mean anything, you can see how appreciated it is. I think it is great that they (as a community) have shown their compassion to each other. When a child is helped, it helps the community. Even in the community response videos you can see an organized chaos. No one is trying to knock someone out to jump ahead or giving the other person mean looks. We, as a human race, could learn a lot from this example!
By the way, do you recongize this woman? This out-spoken woman is Mrs. Halubala who was featured before as a grandmother raising more grandchildren than she can provide for. She now has 3 of her grandchildren sponsored Onest Mazuba, Mutinta Halubala, and Netto Halubala. If you would like to help one of Mrs. Halubala's grandchildren, there are 15 more that she cares for!! Some of the children avaiable for sponsorship are primary boys Aklin Chimuka, Nchimunya Halubala, and primary girl Grecious Ngandu.

This is an amazing video, it shows her thanks but also what being part of a community really is all about. She exhibits the qualities that all humans should show.. we would be a better world if we all showed these characteristics. It makes it all worth while having a grandmother say these things.
