2011 Sixth Distribution Post 10: Medical- Tracking History

The medical team asked the parents and guardians questions regarding the child's medical history including any hospitalizations, medications they are taking, medical conditions that they have already been diagnosed with and any serious conditions that the child's parents.  This is invaluable information that will help us in the child's treatment or any future ailments that may come up.

2011 Sixth Distribution Post 9: Medical- Measuring Growth

At the recent Medical Exam Assembly, we had 93 children get check ups.  One of the important aspects of these exams is that they track a pattern- For example, the weight and height tracks the child's pattern of growth.  This allows us to know if something is amiss.  Annual exams are our best weapon against disease.  Thank you for providing this amazing gift to the children and their families!!

The women's program is a lot of fun for the women and their international penpals.  These women serve other day in and day out raising their grandkids, working in the fields, cooking the meals, etc.  When other women in other parts of the world may be retired from their jobs and able to rest, these women have never had a rest.

This program allows them to think of themselves- if only for a few moments a day as they write a letter to their penpal or read one from their penpal.  When their penpal sends a gift, this puts a smile on their face because someone far away cares about them and their well-being.

I have put 9 more faces in this post.  If you would like to be a penpal to one of these ladies, please let me know.

2011 Sixth Distribution Post 5: Mangunje Chicken Project Update

Chim asked the lady in the video how Mangunje was looking after the livestock he was given. The lady said that Mangunje was looking after the livestock very well and he loves the chickens. She told me that Mangunje likes animals. In the video are the chickens that were purchased for him by the sponsor. You can see that they all have chicks now!!!  Mangunje hopes to sell some and keep some when they are fully grown. This will help sustain his life.

In this post, I put our youngest ECCDE children getting their gifts.  They are so unpredictable when it comes to the camera, and just in general, so don't let some of the straight faces fool you- they were all very excited to get their gifts!!
